From King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski - here are some resources for families:

The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions has developed a list of financial resources for Washington consumers impacted by the Coronavirus. We will add to this list as more resources become available.

Trouble Paying Rent or Mortgage

If you don’t have enough money to pay, contact your lender or landlord immediately. Help includes:

• Washington Homeownership Hotline (877-894-HOME)
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau suggestions
• Rental assistance & counseling (800-569-4287)
• List of Housing Counseling Agencies
• For Seattle renters, the Mayor has issued a 30-day moratorium on evictions – through mid-April

Paying Utilities

If you need help paying your utility bills, contact your service provider immediately.

Puget Sound Energy will not disconnect customers, will waive late fees, and offers payments plans.
• For Seattle residents, Seattle City Light and Seattle Public Utilities will not shut off service during the emergency. They also offer deferred payment plans and discount programs.
• The Utilities and Transportation Commission offers energy assistance programs.
• The federal government also has assistance programs to help with telephone and heating bills.
Comcast is offering free WiFi hot spots, unlimited data, and no disconnects or late fees.

Food Assistance

If you’re looking for help feeding yourself or your family, visit the Food Lifeline website to find a partner food bank, food pantry, or hot meal program in your neighborhood. This food is free and available to you, even if you don’t qualify for SNAP or EBT.

YAP Flyer

We are committed to finding ways to assist our youth in seeking hope and purpose in their lives by equipping them with tools and resources they will need to succeed. We feel we can best meet their needs through partnering with the Puyallup School District and other established organizations such as YMCA Youth Investment Center, Mountain View Community Center, Puyallup Food Bank, Communities in Schools as well as Local Service Clubs and Churches.

We will continue to inspire community members and other service clubs to join hands in lifting our children up, restoring hope, and helping them find purpose.

Meetings are held on a quarterly basis. We will have a work group meeting when projects are underway.

Needs uncovered in past meetings:
All Schools without high% of free and reduced lunch program - Breakfast bar program:

Elementary - Nourishment (morning snacks for kids and backpack program), tutoring, career days, possible Kelso's Choice (an anti-bullying program).

Middle School - FLAWLESS (an empowerment program for young ladies) looking for a similar program for your men.

High School - Career opportunities and mentoring, assemblies for empowerment and self-esteem, and speakers for their home room time.

Organizations involved: Mountain View Community Center, YMCA Youth Investment Center, Communities in Schools, Rotary Club, Boy Scouts of America, The One Another Foundation, and many other local business owners.

We are looking for other services clubs, community organizations, and businesses to partner with our youth!
