Message from the Superintendent - June 15, 2017

superintendentDear Staff,

I want to personally extend a word of thanks to each and every member of the team for the work that is being done to support each child and finish the 2016-17 school year strong.

Along with the many events and celebrations at the conclusion of a school year there is valuable instructional time that we are, as a district, committed to using in the best way possible to further enhance the learning and the growth of our students.  It is very important that we convey to our community, from which we regularly request support, that we are using our instructional time and support resources well.

There are many factors that contribute directly to students being able to finish the school year on a positive note. A great bus ride each day, learning in a clean and well maintained facility, students who are well fed and greeted with a smile, and children who are well supported and kept safe in our schools are just a few. These factors are all necessary to ensure that meaningful instruction and learning can continue right through the last hour of the school day on June 23.

Please know that the efforts made to provide meaningful instruction and the very important work to support instruction are greatly appreciated. Our very supportive community has an expectation that we make every day of school, whether it’s a Wednesday in January or the fourth Friday in June, meaningful and productive for our students.

Again, thank you so much for your efforts to serve and support each child in the Puyallup School District. Let’s work together to make certain that “finishing the school year strong” is something that each of our students experiences this June.

Keep up the great work!

Dr. Timothy S. Yeomans, Superintendent
Puyallup School District
