SuperintendentPuyallup staff,

First and foremost, a very warm welcome back and a happy 2016 to all. We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break.

A word of thanks to our wonderful custodial and maintenance staff for their fine work over the break to deal with many pressing issues. Thanks to their hard work, students have a great environment in which to learn.

We have so many people in our district which are vital to the successful education of our students. Some of our most flexible and reliable folks are our substitute employees who fill a great number of certificated and classified roles within the school district.

As most of us are aware, the importance and need for substitute employees continues with the student growth within our district. The Human Resources department is actively engaged in the ongoing recruitment, training, and support of substitute employees. As we are all well aware, with substitutes in high demand in a number of neighboring school districts as well, it is very important that we make every effort as a district to welcome and support our substitute employees when they are in our schools and other work areas.

In Puyallup we have a great tradition of being a welcoming and positive place to work. As we go forth in 2016, let's join together to make certain that our substitute employees feel both welcomed and supported in their work. By continuing to welcome and support those who are so vital to our work, we further reinforce the message that PSD is a great place to work and live.

Thanks to everyone for reaching out and supporting our substitute employees.

Have a great week.

Dr. Timothy S. Yeomans, Superintendent

Puyallup School District
